SBRT for Prostate Cancer

title: SBRT for Prostate Cancer: Rationale, Outcomes, and Practical Considerations
Presenter: Robert M. Meier, MD
Moderator: Rachelle Lanciano, MD
Date: Thursday, March 30, 2017
Time: 12:00 pm ET / 9:00 am PT
Where: Your Computer and/or Telephone
The presentation will review the background and rationale for prostate SBRT. We will discuss SBRT outcomes, including disease-free survival, toxicity, and patient-reported quality of life outcomes, focusing on early studies as well as the multi-center CyberKnife study presented at ASTRO in 2016. Practical aspects of treatment, including fiducial placement, imaging, contouring, and dose constraints will be reviewed.

After attending this activity, participants should be able to understand and describe:
    • Theoretical advantages of and rationale for SBRT for prostate cancer.
    • Biochemical disease-free survival observed following SBRT, and how this compares to other RT modalities.
    • Toxicity seen following SBRT, and how this compares to other RT modalities.
    • Recommended prescription doses and normal tissue constraints in treating prostate SBRT.
